    Champions use:

  • Roots, prefixes, suffixes, word patterns, foreign words, spelling rules, grammatical conventions, and phonetic clues to spell for success.

  • Students will gain confidence for academic excellence.

Spelling Skills Academy Courses

Level One: (Grades K-2)

Students will begin learning about the science of spelling by spelling the 44 phonemes and learning the most important spelling rules. Special attention will be paid to spelling the long vowel sounds and syllables.

Level Two (Grades 3-4)

Students must master Level One before proceeding to Level Two. Level Two students will learn how to spell the most important Greek and Latin word parts by using the ScholarSkills List of 101 Words.

Level Three (Grades 5-8)

Students will study advanced Greek, Latin, and French word parts, as they practice spelling and decoding the meanings of complex words. Students will use the ScholarSkills Word-Builders Curriculum.

Your instructor:

Your instructor is Mr. Brian Vieira. He is the Executive Director of ScholarSkills and one of the leading experts in teaching vocabulary and spelling from roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

Mr. Vieira has over 30 years of experience in teaching. Last year one of his students advanced to the quarterfinals of Scripps National Spelling Bee. This year two of his students advanced to the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee and finished tied for 22nd and 23rd out of 231 spellers.
