T.A.G. (The Academic Gym at ScholarSkills) Policies

Terms for The Academic Gym at ScholarSkills Reading Skills Center, events, and camps

Attendance, Sessions, and Payments
The cycle of sessions will commence on the first date that the student attends. Payment is due on the same date of each month. This represents the anniversary date of the first payment. Payments must be made prior to each month. Payments are billed automatically and recurringly. Parents must give a 30-day notice in order to discontinue learning center activities, or they will be billed and responsible for the payment. A 3% service charge is added to each monthly recurring payment. Students are not allowed to attend classes unless payments have been prepaid.

If sessions are missed during the session cycle, they can be made-up during that cycle on an alternative day or be carried over to the new session cycle. Make up sessions are held based upon availability and at the discretion of the Center Director but must be fulfilled within 4 weeks after the missed session. Students Are expected to be punctual will begin on time. Students will not be able to stay later to make up missed time. This is a structured literacy, sequenced course that requires timely attendance.

With the exception of unavoidable circumstances, sessions are eligible for makeups only if notification of an impending absence has been given no later than 10 a.m. of the session date. Missed days do not extend the payment due date for future session cycles as payments will always be due on the anniversary date of the first payment. Late payments automatically incur a $35 late fee one day after the due date. Invoices will be sent on a recurring basis as long as the student is enrolled. If parents decide to end their enrollment, notice must be given at least one week before the next session cycle begins.

Resources and Books
Books and other educational resources are not covered within the tuition fee and are purchased and billed separately. Required course resources are delineated for and discussed with parents before they are purchased. Each student is required to have personalized supplies in order for them to learn the curriculum effectively. Supplies will require registration at our online academic gym where students will practice daily, and all other learning center tools that they must use.

Homework

Students are required to complete daily assignments in order to master the coursework that is given to them.

Behavior

Students are required to behave appropriately. This means that they should treat each other with great respect. No student is allowed to speak to another student in any disparaging manner.

Students should be dressed for class every time they come. Uniforms are required. Students without uniforms will either have to purchase one at the Learning Center or sit out the class session with no makeup session.

Students must not bring any chewing gum. Parents should bring water bottles and snacks for students if necessary.

Students must not leave the learning center without permission until their class is over.

Parents

Parents should be available to take their children to bathrooms if necessary. For students in pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade, parents must remain at the learning center to take care of all possible issues.

Parents of pre-K students are required to participate in learning center activities.

Parents can designate a substitute to represent them at the learning center. Parents can also designate an adult or substitute to pick up their children. This individual must be on record with an ID photograph and contact information.

Students must be picked up on time. Directors and coaches cannot monitor children since they must be in classes with other students. A $20 service charge is automatically charged to parents whose children have to stay more than ten minutes after their class has been concluded. To avoid this, parents are required to be at the Learning Center to wait for their children.

Closures

If the reading skills center or any event or camp has to be closed due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, parents will be notified by 5:00 AM that morning or by the night before. Parents are expected to check their emails and text messages regarding potential camp closures or reading center closures.
